BOLT and BOLT+ are advanced robotic balls designed for interactive learning and play for beginner to advanced coders, featuring an array of sensors and durable construction. While both models share many core features that helped BOLT become the #1 coding robot in education, BOLT+ introduces several enhancements, including a pixel LCD screen (replaces the 8x8 LED matrix), 6 programmable LEDs, exclusive programming Blocks, improved power management, and additional standards-aligned educational content.

Electrify learning at school or home with BOLT+, the next evolution of our popular BOLT coding robot. Sphero BOLT+ delivers best-in-class, hands-on learning experiences that grow with students—from early coding concepts to advanced programming. Featuring a vivid LCD screen with 650+ images & animations, enhanced sensors, and Qi charging, BOLT+ combines creativity, critical thinking, and real-world coding exploration.
In the Sphero Edu App, students can drive, code, and experiment with real-time data while exploring guided lessons in Draw, Blocks, Python, and JavaScript. They can also use Explain My Program, our AI Assistant, to reflect on their code, plus build foundational AI literacy—understanding how intelligent systems sense, decide, and respond. With BOLT+, students gain a deeper understanding of how technology works while keeping the focus on curiosity, safety, and hands-on learning.

Promote creativity and self-expression with over 650+ vibrant graphics and playful animations and data display. The screen brings coding projects to life with vivid colors and engaging visuals.

Progress from Draw and Blocks to JavaScript or Python in the Sphero Edu App. Use Explain My Program—Sphero’s AI assistant—to reflect on code and connect logic to computational thinking throughout skill development.

Explore how intelligent systems sense, decide, and respond through guided coding lessons. Building computer-science skills is the foundation of AI literacy—and Sphero lessons make it hands-on and fun.

Shake to wake, Qi wireless charging, waterproof durability, all-day battery life, and free cross-curricular lessons in Sphero Central keep learning exciting from start to finish.

Sphero BOLT+ offers a vivid 128x128 pixel LCD display, advanced features, and programming blocks designed to engage learners aged 8 and up. Its durable, waterproof shell and inductive charging ensure a robust, hassle-free learning experience.
Turns Coding Lessons Into Actual Excitement, Not Eye Rolls
BOLT+ feels like the first classroom robot that’s genuinely designed for how kids learn now, not how curriculum committees wish they did. My students went from dragging blocks to tweaking the auto-generated Python so they could make a “heartbeat” animation on the LCD that changed speed based on the robot’s light sensor readings. The “Explain My Program” AI helper is surprisingly useful too—it caught a student’s faulty loop logic faster than I could during a busy lab, without dumbing down the explanation.
Finally feels like ‘real’ coding, not just another toy robot
I was hunting for something that went beyond cute coding toys and actually grew with my students from “what’s a loop?” to real Python and JavaScript. BOLT+ ended up being that middle ground between fun and legitimately rigorous. The LCD screen and sensors make it way easier for kids to see what their code is doing in real time, and the AI “Explain My Program” feature has saved me from answering the same debugging questions 20 times a day. It’s not cheap, and there’s a bit of setup and learning curve with the app, but once it’s up and running, it genuinely supports cross-curricular projects instead of collecting dust in a cabinet.
Finally a coding toy that isn’t ‘fun’ for 10 minutes and then forgotten
I grabbed BOLT+ because my students were bored stiff with “pretend” coding on screens and I wanted something hands-on that could grow with them. The mix of block coding for my newbies and Python/JavaScript for my advanced kids has actually kept everyone engaged (for more than a week… miracle). The LCD screen, sensors, and those little animations make it feel like a real mini-robot project, not a gimmick, and the “Explain My Program” AI has saved me from answering the same ‘why isn’t this working?’ question 30 times a day. Prep takes some upfront time and you’ll want decent Wi‑Fi, but the free lessons, tough build, and wireless charging make it super classroom-friendly—and nobody’s broken one yet.
