FAQ

FAQ

What happens when I change the batteries - is the microchip number stored in memory?

Yes, once a pet’s microchip number is stored it stays in the memory whether the batteries are in place or not.

There is an intruder animal/cat coming through my SureFlap Microchip Pet Door.

Please ensure you have followed all of the troubleshooting in your SureFlap product manual.

How long is the battery life?

Typical battery life with recommended batteries is over six months, and in many cases, up to 12 months with normal use.

Do SureFlap pet doors have a timer lock?

The SureFlap Microchip Pet Door has a timer lock so that you can programme the door to lock and unlock at specified times. This is what we refer to as the curfew mode.

The SureFlap Microchip Pet Door Connect and the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap Connect also have this feature, which can be accessed remotely using the Sure Petcare app.

My pet isn't microchipped, can it use Sure Petcare microchip products?

We recommend you use Sure Petcare products in conjunction with your pet's implanted microchip so that they don't need to wear a collar. However, Sure Petcare products can be used with a Sure Petcare RFID Collar Tag that is unique if your pet is not microchipped.

I absolutely love how the app tells you when your cat leaves and enters the house. The curfew mode means I can lock the cat flap at night and it opens automatically in the early morning (when the cat wants to be out and I want to be asleep). If I want to change this I can do it from my phone- anywhere any time. I had to have this installed to my patio door as my walls are too thick which involved new glass panels and additional fitting costs but worth it.

Yes, I have a 22 pound Main Coon. This is actually our second large cat door. The cats wore out the last one. We originally purchased this Chip controlled cat door to keep a skunk out. The cats adapted quickly to using the door and it gives them a place to dash when threatened by other cats, dogs, or other wild critters.

This has worked brilliantly for both of our cats for the last 3 years. It was easy to set up and register the chips of our cats by gently pushing the cats through the flap, this helped to train them as well. The cats have developed different techniques of opening the flap but both have been happy and confident to use it from the beginning. A great flap which has reassured us that our pets are safe and can come and go as they please! Highly recommended!
